YOU ARE HIRING ONE PERSON
When you hire me for your next project, rest assured that you’re hiring one person. Not a team. Not a group of remote freelancers or rotating contributors. Just me. I’m responsible for every aspect of every project from start to finish.
CLEAR COMMUNICATION
I pride myself on effective communication. That means replying to your email within twenty-four hours unless I’m on vacation or taking sick time (if the former, I’ll notify you ahead of time; if the latter, I’ll contact you as soon as possible). That also means doing my best to make sure that you and I are on the same page at all times. No mysteries. No guesswork.
CONTRACT AND FEE SCHEDULE
After we settle on the scope of your project, a deadline for completion of the work, and a fee for my services, I will send you a simple contract to sign. For most projects, I ask for half of the fee in advance and the other half upon completion. For big projects with big budgets, I accept monthly or quarterly payments, whichever you prefer.
REVISIONS AND REFUNDS
As part of our contract, we’ll agree to a specific number of revisions (usually at least one full round of revisions). The goal is always to give you exactly what you want. If for some reason you’re unhappy with the final product, we can negotiate another round of revisions. I only offer partial refunds in the event that the project is terminated before it is finished.
TESTIMONIALS
Below are testimonials from some of my satisfied clients:
“I have employed Matt Kite both as a writer and as a book editor. In each role, I have found him to be highly professional and skilled, empathetic, and a pleasure to work with. He meets deadlines and exceeds expectations. Highly recommended!”
— Martin Rudow, owner of Rudow Specialty Publishing, author of several books, including Lost Road Courses and One Last Turn
“In the year 2020, it was decided that those of us affiliated with the Sports Legends of Delaware County Museum would write a 20th-anniversary book saluting the many world-class athletes that honored us by paying a visit to our museum. As president of this organization, I knew that I would need help regarding copy editing, grammar, usage, continuity issues, etc. In short, I wanted to make sure that our press releases and stories were free of technical problems or major loose ends that might confuse our readers. To this end, I was able to make contact with Matt Kite, who for the past five-plus years, from 3,000 miles away, has been our personal freelance editor. Our SLDC Museum is very proud of what we have accomplished with the help of Matt Kite’s expertise. He comes with my highest recommendation for anyone that might need a freelance editor for hire. He is a very special, talented man whose support has made life much more satisfying for us.”
— Jim Vankoski, president at Sports Legends of Delaware County Museum, producer of Tales from the Museum: A Collaborative Anthology
