If you or your organization need someone to write content without attribution, I offer the following services:

Blog post: $100 to $300 flat fee, depending on the complexity and length.
Newsletter: $75 to $250 flat fee, depending on the complexity and length.
Short profile or Q&A (500 to 1,000 words): $250 flat fee.
Full-length feature (1,000 to 3,000 words): $750 flat fee.
Full-length memoir, novel, or nonfiction book: $10,000 to $40,000, depending on nature and length of work.

Retainer: All services are available at a 25-percent discount for multiple or regularly scheduled projects.

EDITING

If you have a completed memoir, novel, or nonfiction work that would benefit from a professional edit, I will edit every word, from start to finish, using the Chicago Manual of Style as my style guide. I typically edit for clarity, economy, variety, and rhythm. I also root out passive language and mechanical problems, from misspellings and typos to grammatical errors like misplaced modifiers and subject-verb disagreement. Depending on your budget and the state of your manuscript, you might prefer a developmental edit or a regular edit. A developmental edit typically requires some minor rewriting, including adjustments to viewpoint, scene development, or the organization or structure of the manuscript. A regular edit focuses on sentence structure, style, mechanics, and so forth.

Regular edit: $0.02 to $0.03 per word, depending on how much editing is required.
Developmental edit: $0.04 to $0.06, depending on how much development is required.

Shorter works: If you would like me to edit a shorter work, such as a press release, newsletter, essay, blog post, or collection of poems or children’s stories, I typically charge $30/hour.

MANUSCRIPT EVALUATION

Do you have a completed draft of a memoir, novel, or nonfiction work that would benefit from a professional evaluation? I will read your manuscript from start to finish and offer insights on storytelling elements like the central conflict, viewpoint, characterization, scene development, and narrative voice. I will also offer suggestions on how you can improve the mechanics, organization, and narrative flow. Wherever possible, I will offer before-and-after examples to demonstrate how you can refine your manuscript.

40,000 words or less: $350 flat fee.
41,000-80,000 words: $500 flat fee.
Each additional 10,000 words: Add $40.

Shorter works: If you would like me to evaluate a shorter work, such as a white paper, scholarly article, or collection of poems or children’s stories, we can negotiate a custom fee that fits your project.
